Default Mini-g not holding in HH

I've got a problem with a Mini-g I hope you can help me with. It's installed in a T-rex 450 pro.I have my slider centered, servo is jr 3500g.Have trimmed heli in rate mode, holds fine in rate mode gain at 20%.In hh i have to hold about a quarter stick rudder for heli not to piro to the right. have tried to adjust tail rod in rate mode but where i have it now seems to be centered.I have my gain set at 28% using gyro menu on futaba 9c radio. I have increased gain to
40% and lowered to 20% with no change.Have checked to be sure gyro is compansating in correct direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First the gain is too low, likely will end up with a much higher gain.

But the turning issue sounds like you are initializing the system with one trim and then possibly flying at a different trim. Possibly your different flight modes have different trims. Or something else causing a large trim change. It should not pirouette in HH mode almost no matter how the pushrod is set.

To confirm you are in heading hold mode hold a small tail control and see if the slider on the tail slowly creeps all the way to one end in the direction you are holding. If it does then you are in heading hold, if it moves a little and stops then you are in Rate mode.

Next try powering up your system with the gyro in Heading hold and see if the tail tends to drift to one side or not on the bench. Then try flipping your radio switch to go between normal, throttle hold and possibly stunt mode (but make sure to unplug your motor so it does not spin up on you)

If you could give these a try and let me know how it does.

Ok, first off in HH when i give rudder input the tail slider moves all the way over, but not in rate mode,so that should be correct? also when i release the stick it stays over in HH but not in rate. As for the trims,I was trimming in rate mode by adjusting the control rod. all my trims including subtrim are at o.
I have adjusted my gain to 87% using the gyro menu on a futaba radio, says AVS when in HH. Tail now only drfts slowly to the left in HH. Should I keep going up on the gain Until it stops drifting? That seems like a lot of gain. buy the way I also checked my end points and they are 100-100.
Thanks for the help,
Mike

I it really should not be drifting in flight. But first you want to go as high on the gain as you can. Keep turning it up until it starts to oscillate and then back it down a little.

Let me know how that goes and then we can look at the drifting you are seeing.

Just wanna say thanks for the help, finally got a chance to fly the heli this past week(bad weather). I didn't have enough gyro gain. I added gain until the tail started wagging then backed it off some. I ended up with about 88%
gain on a futaba radio. Heli is holding great, pyro rate is good.Guess the gain just has to be higher for this gyro than a gy401. thanks again
