You missed a great afternoon, Kenny!
![]() I got my Protos back into the air with a "clown colors" canopy that had Rick shaking his head. I have really found a sweet setup with the Scorpion 880kv, 14T pinion and 2600 6S. I still have mind-numbing power and I get 7 minute flights! ![]() After the last two outings with the Knight, I had just about convinced myself that I really didn't need to convert everything to flybarless since it flies so well with the flybar. But after flying the Protos today, then flying the Knight again I was left asking myself, "What was I thinking?!?" ![]() Oh, and I tried out some new blades on the Protos: http://www.heliflightcenter.com/Heli...s_p/hs430b.htm They were perfectly balanced and fly really well! I'd call them a "mid-priced" alternative for the Protos at $45. My only gripes are: 1. They are all black, but as you can see I added some white paint to the tips after today's flying. 2. They are 9mm roots so you need to use the included washers with the 10mm grips (or use the original 9mm grips... of which I have several sets) Overall, I'm impressed! I'll probably try some of their other sizes too ($66 for 600mm!) Last edited by JustPlaneChris; 11-25-2009 at 06:13 PM. |

I have bassically the same setup your running, 880kv and 14t pinion. I am only running about 4 minutes but I am assuming it is a bit higher head speed. 2650 to 2700. I agree that flybarless is the way to go! I am sure the blades you are running now are totally fine. So how about the Rave? Got yours ordered yet?

LOL! "short of words". How diplomatic.
It was really just a practice canopy to try out some new paints (acrylics) but I needed a canopy to fly today so..... it is what it is. I like the yellow on the bottom, but the pink and purple isn't as visible as you'd think. My "for real" canopy colors will be yellow bottom with black windshield and orange or green dayglo uppers. No Rave on order... gonna fly the Protos for a while.

Unfortunetly I will not be at Arca, I have family stuff in West Texas this weekend. So you all enjoy the flying and the nice weather.
I will more than likely enjoy a debate or two with my father and some good home cooking with my mom.
